There is so much to write about I've been struggling with where and how to start but I know everyone wants to know how Tracy is doing so I'm pushing my writer's block aside to share some of the past week with you. It really has been a rollercoaster and I've called this inaugral post Rollercoaster Rhythm because I think it's something we're going to have to get used to. It is already so apparent that, whilst Tracy's cancer is a mean ugly beast, we are finding out just how many people love and adore Tracy and that has been incredibly uplifting. Treatment wise we hit a low point on Wednesday. Tracy had been horribly ill since Monday, barely able to keep anything down, in intense pain and dropping weight like she was running a marathon a day. We also found out that she hadn't made it onto the trial we were hoping and praying she would. Basically she's too sick and it just seems so unfair that even though she really needs all the help she can get she can't have it because her blood test results are out of their acceptance range because of how advanced her cancer is. That sucks. Right now there is no way around it so we hope and pray for other suitable trials to come her way and we know we have to move on from this one, no energy to waste. The next step was to start chemo on Thursday but Tracy was in no state to be doing so. Noone wanted her chemo delayed so a plan had to be made and off to the hospital we went. Tracy's oncologist was amazing and organised for her to be admitted immediately for IV fluids spiked with maxalon and a bone injection. A few hours later and Tracy almost had some colour in her face and was able to eat some vegemite toast and keep it down. They used Tracy's port she's had installed in her chest for her treatments and let's just say there's more bonding time required for Tracy and her port. It hadn't healed yet and the tissue was all swollen and basically it hurt like hell. We've been trying to name her port. I call it Fred, Sharon calls in Tawny (Tawny port, get it?), wishful thinking really as I'm sure the chemo drugs won't taste anything like Tawny port:-) Any other name suggestions? A new day dawned and Tracy was well enough to start chemo. Yay! Shaz sat with Tracy cracking jokes as she does until Tracy fell asleep! Yes asleep! What a difference a day makes. After just one day everything isn't quite so new and scary anymore and, whether from sheer exhaustion or being more relaxed, the sleep was very welcome. So here we are. First session of chemo down and she's handled it like a pro. We've been warned that the after effects sometimes only hit a couple of days later but fingers crossed the worst of the week is behind us. So you're probably thinking if this is a rollercoaster then where are the ups in all of that? Well, that's where all of you come in. We cannot begin to explain what has been happening over the past few days since www.4Tracy4Life.com went live. It has been nothing short of incredible. There have been messages from people near and far, from long lost friends who've now been found, from family, from friends of friends and even from people none of us have ever met. The messages alone have been a heartwarming source of strength for all of us. We have also been completely overwhelmed by the amazing generosity with already more than twenty people selfessly donating to help Tracy and people from all over the world champing at the bit for me to setup the PayPal account (dont' worry it is coming). We cannot express in words how grateful we are and so, in amongst the week that was, have been some incredible highs. I feel priveleged to have someone so incredible as my sister because if she wasn't the person she is,  I don't believe this would all be happening the way that it is. It is already so evident how special she is to so many people, she's touched the lives of many and now they all want to give back, and so Tracy's army is growing, rapidly, from all corners of the globe and we are feeling stronger for it. Thank you to each and every one of who has reached out to lift us up when we need you. Now... I just need to work out how to load the pictures I wanted to share. Wish me luck!
