Firstly thank you so much to everyone who has donated already, I'll be doing a separate post on the size of Tracy's army tomorrow but it is growing amazingly. It is also apparent that Tracy's supporters are spread far and wide across the globe and therefore we have had many requests to set up PayPal. I'm excited to let everyone know that it's all ready to go now. Paypal can be used for both local and international transfers. The fees are much more favourable if you do a transfer from a PayPal balance or bank account (linked to PayPal) and a bit higher from a credit card.
For those of you in Australia it's probably much of a muchness as to whether you do a transfer through PayPal or your bank. Both are free from your bank account but if you do it from your bank to Tracy's it comes through a little quicker than stepping through PayPal first.
For those overseas you can either do a Western Union transfer. We have a few people who have dont this already and they've come through all good. Or, you can do a PayPal transfer:-)
Assuming you already have a bank account linked to your PayPal account, or you have a PayPal balance, then to Send Money to Tracy all you need to do is:
1. Logon to your PayPal account and Select - Send Money
3. Enter the email address: firstname.lastname@example.org
4. Select the option - I'm sending money to: Family or Friends
5. Click Continue, enter any message and hit Send Money
The page will tell you what fees will be deduced but basically it is 1% for any overseas transfers and 0% for local transfers if you are using a PayPal or bank account balance. If you are using a credit card it is 3.4% plus a fixed fee of $0.30. On top of this there is a 4% currency conversion fee if sending from a currency other than AUD. I think this still all works out as a more cost effective and efficient way to do an international transfer so hopefully it helps all of you around the world to have this option. We will also add the details to the website.
Thank you all for your support. It's been amazing to watch the power of the internet and Facebook at connecting many of Tracy's friends and supporters with her. Beautiful messages have been pouring in along with some wonderful memories and stories being shared. Watch this blog as we will be sharing some of them with you over the upcoming weeks. Suffice to say that a few of them have Sharon, Tracy and I feeling quite homesick for Zim!
Hold that thought. PayPal have placed a restriction on her account pending proof of ID. I am arranging this but in the meantime it won't be working. I will post when it's unrestricted again. You think they would have told us to provide it up front. Ah well, apologies for any confusion caused.
