 In the lead up to the Touched by Tracy gala dinner I realise I have been neglecting the blog. There's something more instant and accessible about doing a quick Facebook post from my phone whilst on the move. However, I know there are a few of Tracy's supporters who aren't on Facebook and so my apologies for the lack of blog action. I could not let you miss out on an update of our special night though, so I have put together a blog that combines a few of the Facebook posts for you. The morning after: Somebody pinch me because last night was like a dream. A fairy tale with the most deserving princess. We cannot thank all of you who contributed to, and shared last night with us enough. Words simply cannot express..... What a wonderful surprise to wake up to this video this morning. We hope you all had an incredible time. The night surpassed our wildest dreams. The love, energy and support in the room was overwhelming, evident by how quickly your paddles went up for the pledges. We weren't quite prepared for that, but I'm sure some of you enjoyed watching Ingrid and I run in high heels! Thank you for your incredible generosity and support. It means the world to us. A night to remember. We will hold it close to our hearts. Forever. A deeper reflection on the evening after the night before: Today has been a day of more laughter and fun as we reminisced our favourite moments of the night with Mike's family who are over from NZ. Tracy & Mike shared what an incredible time they had and how humbled and amazed they were at everyone's support and generosity. We chuckled further about the speed at which the paddles went up:-) It is safe to say Ingrid and I are hanging up the heels again for a while. We have had countless messages, each one of them keeping us on an extended high! Praise flooding in for Tracy and the grace with which she took the stage, along with the courage it took to share her heartfelt thoughts. She made us all so proud to know her showing exactly why it has been a gift in itself to do this for her, and how deserving she is. Also praise for our wonderful, multi-talented MC, David and his Rat Pack's Back team, as well as for the gorgeous Jackie Dee and her band, who all gave so generously of their time and talent. How awesome was it to see Tracy floating across the dance floor when only 6 weeks prior she could barely stand/walk let alone dance!?!
I feel that everything that last night represented comes back to one of my very first posts. The power of people.... An army. A community. An extended family. A dedicated and passionate committee. Three sisters who love each other, but who have a bond stronger and deeper than that, and a beautiful Mother who showed them the way. I could go on forever but.... I have exciting news I cannot wait any longer to share, and I know everyone is eager to know!
We have done a second count and cross tally and we have a new total
$86 932!!!! and rising.
That means nearly $56 000 from last night alone!!!!! Beyond our wildest dreams (and let me tell you the committee is full of high achievers who like to set the bar high!). We are amazed, humbled, grateful, proud and slightly stunned in the best way possible. Incredible generosity all over the room last night. There are still a few pledges and payments to come in, and people who were not able to convert their pledge last night, have asked for me to post the fundraiser account details today. Oh my gosh are we really heading into the 90's? There has to be a prize for the person who takes us over that milestone!!! I'll be keeping a close eye and looking out for who that is.
